39 ceasefire violations reported in Syria in past day

MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. A total of 39 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups were reported during the day in Syria, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties in Syria said in its regular daily bulletin posted on the Russian defense ministry’s official website on Sunday.

"During the day, as many as 39 episodes of shelling by armed groups were reported in Syria, including 18 - in the province of Aleppo, 15 - in the province of Damascus, one - in the province of Latakia, one - in the province of al-Quneitra, and four - in the province of Daraa," the center said. "In the province of Damascus, armed groups of the Jaysh al-Islam organization which affiliates itself with the opposition shelled from mortars and firearms the settlements of Jobar (twice) and al-Qasa, and a highway near the settlement of Douma."

"Armed groups of the terrorist organizations Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra) and Islamic State (both outlawed in Russia) shelled from mortars, man-portable anti-tank grenade launchers and firearms Aleppo’s districts of Amri, Binyamin (twice), 1070, Dahiya al-Assad, Ashrafiyah, Hai Zahra-Awad, Jamaiya Faht, Hananu-4 (twice), Jandul Dunwar, Karim Jazmati, the Al-Assad military academy (twice), the Castello trade center (twice) and the Higma school," the Russian center said.

In the province of Damascus, terrorists shelled the settlements of Arbil (three times), Bleliey, Hawsh Harabu (Three times), the al-Wafidin camp and the settlement of Jobat (three times). In the province of Daraa, terrorists shelled the settlement of Tel Skheliya, Hirbat al-Gazala, Al-Sanameyn and a motor road near the settlement of Jaddiya. In the province of al-Quneitra, terrorists shelled the settlement of Jaba.

"No air strikes were delivered by the Russian air group and the Syrian air force at armed opposition group which have declared cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or U.S. reconciliation centers about their locations," the Russian center said.

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeimim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
