MOSCOW, November 17. /TASS/. Moscow has been supporting Baghdad in its fight against terrorism by providing weapons for the Iraqi army, Russia's Special Presidential Envoy to the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said at a round table on Thursday.
"Despite all the support of the so-called anti-IS coalition led by the US, the Iraqi army and local militia have been playing the crucial role in the fight against IS (Islamic State terror group outlawed in Russia)," the Russian diplomat noted.
"In this regard we have been supporting the Iraqi authorities’ efforts to combat terrorists and maintain their country’s territorial integrity, by providing weapons and military hardware for the Iraqi military," Bogdanov added.
