TEHERAN, November 14. /TASS/. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani expressed the hope that Russia will continue to work with Western nations to remove the remaining sanctions from Iran, Valentina Matviyenko, the speaker of Russia’s Federation Council upper parliament house, said on Monday after a meeting with the Iranian leader.

She said the Iranian president "highly estimated Russia’s role in the preparation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)" and thanked the Russian side for its efforts. In her words, he pledged that the Iranian side will fulfil all of its liabilities and said he "hopes Russia will continue to exert influence on the Western countries to have them implement their liabilities under this agreement in order to unfreeze other issues and lift remaining restrictions against Iran to give it a possibility to develop."

The meeting with the Iranian president "was very constructive and lengthy," she said, adding that Tehran expressed its interest in developing relations with Moscow in various areas. "We are leaving Iran being absolutely confident in the sincerity of the Iranian side’s plans to expand our cooperation, first of all, in the spheres of economy, investments, energy, and in the humanities," Matviyenko said.

Apart from that, according to the Russian upper parliament house speaker, the sides discussed concrete projects and what is hampering their implementation. "When in Moscow, I will speak with the government and convey all initiative of the Iranian side to the president," she said.
