EU foreign ministers' plans to discuss Trump's victory show confusion in Europe

On November 9 the US citizens cast their ballots and elected their 45th president

MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Meeting of EU Foreign Ministers to discuss Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election in the US reflects confusion, if not concern, in the European countries over the fact, Vladimir Chizhov, the Russian ambassador to the EU said on Wednesday.

"This statement (by Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Germany's Foreign Minister TASS) reflects an element of confusion," he said in an interview with Rossiya'24 channel in a comment on Steinmeier's decision to hold a conference at the level of foreign ministers for discussing the situation.

On Election Day, November 8, United States citizens cast their ballots and elected their 45th US President, Donald J. Trump.

By securing more than the needed 270 electoral votes, Trump, the Republican candidate clinched his presidential victory.

The election outcome was a spectacular culmination to a heated Presidential race between the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton and Republican candidate, Donald Trump.
