MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. There are people in Russia and the United States who seek to enhance bilateral relations and this offers hope for the full-format restoration of these ties, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday.
"In our countries - in Russia and the US - there are people who appreciate the relations with each other, respect and love culture of the United States and the Russian culture," Putin said at the ceremony of handing out state awards in the Kremlin.
"No doubt, this gives a common ground. This brings hope for the full-format restoration of our relations for the sake of interests of our peoples," he said.
The Russian president praised the education programs initiated in the US by Susan Lehrman. Putin stressed that such projects are vital when the Russian-US relations "face serious challenges."
Putin also said Russia’s relations with China are at a very high level now. This became possible due to the efforts of such people as Chen Ping, the president of China's National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA), who also received the award, he stressed.
"I thank all the guests for the attention you pay to preserving and expanding the Russian culture and the Russian language," the president stressed, congratulating all Russian citizens and countrymen living abroad on occasion of the National Unity Day.
