MOSCOW, October 18. /TASS/. Moscow understands that the decision to freeze Russian television channel RT accounts in the United Kingdom was not taken by the bank, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday.
"It is clear that the decision was not made by the bank, no bank could have made such decisions independently," Lavrov said.
"The situation is obvious. One should remember the old words of wisdom: never treat others the way you would not like to be treated," he said.
On Monday, the broadcaster’s editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan tweeted the accounts of the Russian television news channel RT in Britain had been frozen. A source in the UK Ministry of Finance told TASS the freeze of the accounts was the bank’s own decision and not new sanctions against Russia. Prime Minister Theresa May’s spokesman said the issue was "a matter for the bank."
