Forty-nine ceasefire violations reported in Syria in past day

In Damascus province, terrorist groups shelled the settlements of Hawsh-Nasri (twice), Harasta (twice), Huteita al-Jarash, Jobar (twice), Haush al-Fara, a stadium and a hospital in Damascus city

MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. A total of 49 ceasefire violations by illegal armed groups were reported during the day in Syria, including 24 times in Aleppo province, 18 in Damascus, five in Hama and two in Latakia province, the Russian center for reconciliation of the warring parties said in its regular daily news bulletin posted on the Russian defense ministry’s website on Thursday.

Armed groups which have declared their joining the regime of cessation of hostilities conducted fire from self-made multiple missile launcher systems, mortars and firearms at the settlement of Azizi (two episodes) in the province of Aleppo, positions of government troops in the area of Zahr-al-Nayrab mountain and a neighborhood in Aleppo, as follows from the bulletin.

It said the settlements of Arbil, Douma (twice), Jobar (twice), Er-Rihan and height 612, were pounded in Damascus province. In Latakia province they shelled the settlement of Ain al-Qantara and positions of government forces in the area of Abu Ali mountain, the bulletin said.

In the province of Aleppo, terrorist armed groups conducted fire from self-made multiple missile launcher systems, anti-tank guided missile systems, tanks, artillery systems, mortars and firearms at the settlements of Braij al-Rih and Ansar, five neighborhoods of Aleppo city, Check Point number One on Castello Road, Castello shopping center, a cement plant (four times), Hindi hospital (twice) and the Qaryat Halab castle (twice), it said.

In Damascus province, terrorist groups shelled the settlements of Hawsh-Nasri (twice), Harasta (twice), Huteita al-Jarash, Jobar (twice), Haush al-Fara, a stadium and a hospital in Damascus city. In Hama, they shelled a thermal power plant in Mahrada (twice) and positions of government forces in the areas of Skandaria, Samra and Maharda, the bulletin said.

"No air strikes were delivered by the Russian air group and the Syrian air force at armed opposition group which have declared cessation of hostilities and informed the Russian or U.S. reconciliation centers about their locations," the Russian reconciliation center said.

The Russian Defense Ministry declared the establishment of the reconciliation center on February 23. It is headquartered at the Hmeimim air base, Latakia province. The center was set up in line with agreements reached by Russia and the United States to facilitate the negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition and to organize humanitarian deliveries.
