Kremlin notes Russia, US agree on need to pressure Kiev to fulfill Minsk accords

The Kremlin spokesman comments on a meeting between Russian Presidential Aide Vladislav Surkov and US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Moscow and Washington tend to agree that it is necessary to use all methods to influence Kiev to comply with the Minsk agreements, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

"Indeed, there is a growing understanding that Kiev does not honor its commitments to the Minsk agreements, especially the political part," the Kremlin spokesman said, commenting on a meeting between Russian Presidential Aide Vladislav Surkov and US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland. "In that regard, both parties point to the need of employing all possible influence and methods to exert pressure on Kiev to motivate the Ukrainian government to fulfill its obligations." Peskov added that he was referring to "all negotiating parties."

He also recalled that Kiev had not yet taken steps "spelled out on paper and signed by President Pyotr Poroshenko."
