Nemtsov murder trial to take place at Moscow court on October 3

On September 28, the court selected the board of jurors picking out 12 regular and 10 alternate jurors from 84 candidates

MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. Moscow District Military Court is scheduled to begin a high-profile trial of the accused of killing opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, a lawyer for his daughter Zhanna told TASS on Wednesday.

"The court is scheduled to begin hearing on the merits on October 3, at 10 a.m. Moscow Standard Time (7 a.m. GMT)," he said claiming that despite the selected jurors and the set deadline for the trial, the contractors should be established.

"Ice has been broken. However, we are most interested in hearing names of the paymaster and organizer of the crime while here (in the dock) there are just perpetrators whose motive is undetermined," he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, the court selected the board of jurors behind the closed doors, picking out 12 regular and 10 alternate jurors from 84 candidates.

Nemtsov, former deputy prime minister under then-President Boris Yeltsin, co-chairman of the Parnas party and lawmaker of the Yaroslavl regional legislature, was gunned down in downtown Moscow on February 27, 2015. Five persons were arrested on March 8 last year on suspicion of murdering the politician: Zaur Dadayev, Anzor and Shadid Gubahev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov and Khamzat Bakhayev.

The accused persons are denying their complicity in Nemtsov’s murder. The term of their arrest has been extended until December 30.
