MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. Russia’s Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko will represent Russia at the funeral of Israel’s former president, Shimon Peres.

Israel’s ninth president, Shimon Peres, died in hospital near Tel-Aviv early Wednesday morning. He was 93. Peres was Israel’s head of state from 2007 to 2014. He was a recognized patriarch of Israeli politics, one of Israel’s founding fathers and close associate of Israel’s first Prime Minster David Ben-Gurion.
