Moscow and US do not see eye to eye on Ahrar al-Sham — Russia’s Foreign Ministry

Speaking on Russia’s stance on the separation of the moderate opposition from terrorists, the spokeswoman noted that Moscow and US position differ on those matters

MOSCOW, September 15. /TASS/. Moscow and Washington hold different positions on the Ahrar al-Sham group and on the separation of the moderate Syrian opposition from the terrorists, Russia’s Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

Russia sees the recent agreements with the US not as political declarations or declarations of intent, but as a written accord that Moscow and Washington have signed. "The implementation of these documents is Russia’s direct responsibility," Zakharova stated.

"We don’t need to be optimistic, but we must consider it a document that needs to be fulfilled."

Speaking on Russia’s stance on the separation of the moderate opposition from terrorists, the spokeswoman noted that Moscow’s position on the "Ahrar al-Sham group and the separation issue on the whole differs to some extent from that of the US.".
