Putin to visit school and to tackle shipbuilding industry issues in Vladivostok

The head of the state will start the second day of his working visit to the country’s Far East region by visiting gymnasium school N2 in Vladivostok

VLADIVOSTOK, September 1. /TASS/. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will congratulate schoolchildren of one of the schools of Vladivostok on the Knowledge Day and to deal with the issues of shipbuilding industry

The head of the state will start the second day of his working visit to the country’s Far East region by visiting gymnasium school N2 in Vladivostok. On the first day of the school year Putin will see how the educational process is organized there and to talk with the pupils.

After visiting the school Putin will go to the city of Bolshoi Kamen, 20 kilometers from Vladivostok, where the new shipbuilding complex Zvezda is located. The president will inspect the construction of the new complex. It is expected that Putin will inspect the hull production workshop and to give a speech for the employees of the company.

However, according to Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, it is not ruled out that the President’s visit to the ship-building complex may be cancelled because of the bad weather.

"Now, the weather in Vladivostok is not good, which, however, does not affect the working plans," the Kremlin official said.

According to him, the head of state will hold a meeting on the development of shipbuilding industry in any case and if the weather is fine, the meeting will be held directly on the site of the Zvezda shipyard not on the island of Russkiy in Vladivostok.

The Zvezda shipbuilding complex was formed in 1954 and back then it repaired small vessels - motorboats, trapping schooners, medium fishing trawlers. Currently, one of the major activities of the complex is the repair if ships of the Russian Navy. Since September 2013, Russia has been creating the Far Eastern shipbuilding industrial cluster on the base of the Zvezda shipyard. According to the schedule, the first stage of construction of the extended Zvezda complex should be completed in 2019.

Putin arrived to the Far East on August 31. On the same day he visited Vladivostok Presidential Cadet Academy - a branch of the Nakhimov Naval School.

On September 2, the President will meet with residents of the areas of advanced development and potential investors of the Far Eastern Federal District.

Also on Friday, the Russian leader is to hold talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

On the last day of his stay in Vladivostok, September 3, Putin and the guests of honor of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) - Shinzo Abe and South Korean President Park Geun-hye - will participate in the opening of the world’s largest Oceanarium on the island of Russkiy. Then the leaders of the three countries will speak at the plenary session of the EEF.

On the same day, a bilateral meeting between Putin and Park Geun-hye is scheduled.
