MOSCOW, August 29. /TASS/. The Russian government has approved a draft intergovernmental agreement with Uruguay on bilateral defense cooperation. The corresponding order is published on the official web portal of legal information on Monday.
The Russian Defense Ministry has been instructed to conduct negotiations with the Uruguayan side and when the agreement is reached to sign the document without principal amendments on behalf of Russia’s Cabinet.
The draft agreement says that Russia and Uruguay will cooperate in the sphere of military medicine, exchange views and information on defense issues, strengthen mutual trust and international security, step up the fight against terrorism and intensify arms control. The two countries also intend to exchange peacekeeping activity experience and interact in the peacekeeping operations under the UN auspices, cooperate in the search and rescue activities at sea.
