GENEVA, August 26. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry have begun negotiations in Geneva. The meeting is held at Hotel President Wilson.
The main issue on the agenda is establishing coordination between Russia and the US in fighting terrorists in Syria.
It is unclear at the moment whether the meeting will end with hammering out a document on the issue. However, this round of consultations was preceded by vigorous diplomatic effort and work by the two countries’ military. The Syrian issue also includes the humanitarian situation around Aleppo, efforts to maintain ceasefire and launch the political process. It is not improbable that Lavrov and Kerry will also address the issue of Turkey’s operation near the Turkish-Syrian border.
Besides, the two top diplomats will discuss the situation in Ukraine and bilateral agenda issues.
