Russia welcomes New Zealand’s interest in developing bilateral ties — Lavrov

During Wednesday talks with his counterpart Murray Mccully Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has welcomed New Zealand's interest in resuming bilateral cooperation with Russia

MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. Moscow notes Wellington’s interest in resuming normal bilateral cooperation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday during the talks with his New Zealand’s counterpart Murray McCully.

"We have already the second meeting this year, we met a couple of months ago in Laos, I’m very glad to see you in Moscow," Lavrov said.

"We have kind personal relations that help to strengthen contacts between the foreign ministries," he added.

Of late, bilateral contacts in a number of areas have been "frozen due to external factors," Lavrov said. "Today we expect to discuss the prospects of resuming normal ties, and moreover we feel the interest of New Zealand’s side," he said.
