BAKU, August 15 /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry wants to intensify dialogue with its Azerbaijani counterparts to promote security and confidence building measures in the Caspian Sea, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov told journalists on Monday after talks between the Russian and Azerbaijani defense chiefs.

"We believe that a more vigorous dialogue and a regular meeting by the inter-governmental commission for military-technical cooperation due to be held in Moscow this autumn will spur the formation of a security system and strengthen confidence-building measures in the Caspian Sea," Antonov explained.

He added that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had invited his Azerbaijani counterpart Zakir Gasanov to a regular session of the Council of Ministers of the CIS defense ministers slated to take place in Moscow in November 2016. Gasanov will also be a guest at the Army-2016 military-technical forum in September.

Shoigu illustrated the activities of the International Mine Action Center of the Russian Armed Forces in Syria to the Azerbaijani defense minister and suggested that Baku get onboard.
