Russian diplomat calls on international organizations to influence Kiev

A diplomat stresses the inadmissibility of Donbass residents' violations of rights

MOSCOW, August 5. /TASS/. Russia calls on international organizations to influence Kiev to prevent future violations of the rights of Donbass residents, Russian Foreign Ministry’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and Supremacy of Law Konstantin Dolgov said on Friday.

Dolgov reminded that the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) noted continuing difficult humanitarian situation in east Ukraine.

"Shellings by Ukrainian forces of Donbass civilian infrastructure led to new serious violations of fundamental rights of local residents," the diplomat wrote on his Twitter microblog. "In June-July 2016, the number of victims among civilians grew by two times in comparison with the period from September 2015 to May 2016," he added.

"We call on international structures to exert pressure on Kiev with the aim of preventing further violations of rights and freedoms of Donbass residents," Dolgov noted.
