MOSCOW, August 2 /TASS/. Ramzan Kadyrov, the acting head of Chechnya, a republic in Russia’s North Caucasus, wrote in Instagram on Tuesday that Chechnya’s Electoral Commission had registered him as a candidate to the head of Chechnya in full compliance with the republic’s election laws.
"We have many tasks lying ahead. I am sure that our team will justify the trust that was given to us and will continue the cause started by Akhmad Haji Kadyrov, the first president of Chechnya and Hero of Russia," Kadyrov wrote.
Elections of the head of the Chechen Republic will take place on September 18, 2016.
