Russian lower house speaker: Ukrainians will elect other authorities sooner or later

"No cardinal improvement in relations between our countries is possible under the current or similar authorities," Sergei Naryshkin said

SEVEROMORSK, July 31. /TASS/. Improvement in relations between Russia and Ukraine is possible when the Ukrainian people elects its authorities who will be working in the interests of the country but not for their own personal benefits, and the Ukrainian are sure to make this choice sooner or later, a senior Russian lawmaker said on Sunday.

"No cardinal improvement in relations between our countries is possible under the current or similar authorities. For a cardinal change in the situation, the Ukrainian people should finally get ripe to elect new authorities who will be working for the good of their citizens and the country but not in their personal selfish political interests," Sergei Naryshkin, the speaker of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house, said at a meeting with officers of the Admiral Kuztensov aircraft carrier onboard that ship.

He said that it is hardly ever possible to say when it might take place. "But I am confident it will sooner or later," he stressed.

Naryshkin is on a working trip to Severomorsk. He is expected to visit Murmansk and Petrozavodsk.
