New members added to Russian Council for Strategic Development

Putin announced the establishment of the Council for Strategic Development at St. Petersburg Economic Forum on June 17

MOSCOW, July 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has made Kremlin Chief of Staff Sergey Ivanov and chairman of Russian independent labor unions Mikhail Shmakov members of the Council for Strategic Development, according to the document published on the official web portal of legislative acts on Thursday.

"To introduce changes to the composition of the Council for Strategic Development… by including Ivanov S.B. - Chief of Staff of Russian Presidential Administation, Shmakov M.V. - chairman of Russia’s Federation of Independent Labor Unions," the document said.

Putin announced the establishment of the Council for Strategic Development at St. Petersburg Economic Forum on June 17. According to Putin, the Council will focus on key projects aimed at introducing structural changes in the economy and social sphere, as well as increasing the rates of economic growth.

The Council’s Presidium headed by the prime minister will convene monthly, while the Council headed by the president - every three months.
