Russia, Myanmar foreign ministers discuss bilateral cooperation

MOSCOW, July 25. /TASS/. Russian top diplomat Sergey Lavrov has discussed bilateral cooperation with Myanmar’s counterpart Aung San Suu Kyi, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"The sides discussed the current state [of relations] and ways to step up Russia-Myanmar cooperation in practical fields," the ministry said, adding that the meeting was held on the sidelines of the 23th regional session of the ASEAN security forum.

Lavrov will take part in a Russia-ASEAN ministerial meeting in Vientiane later on Monday. On July 26, he will participate in a meeting of foreign ministers of the East Asia Summit and a regular session of the ASEAN regional security forum.

He will also meet with his counterparts from the Asia-Pacific countries, including US Secretary of State John Kerry.
