First meeting of new Strategic Development Council to be held next week — Kremlin

The Russian president is the head of the new authority and the premier was appointed as his deputy

MOSCOW, July 5. /TASS/. The first meeting of the newly established presidential Council on Strategic Development and Priority Projects is scheduled for the next week, press secretary of the Russian head of state Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

Domestic economic agenda matters were discussed among other topics on Tuesday at the meeting of the President with standing members of the Russian Security Council.

"Opinions were exchanged in forthcoming [meeting] of the newly founded presidential Strategic Development Council scheduled for the next week," Peskov said.

The Council on Strategic Development and Priority Projects was set up by the head of state late in June. Russian President Vladimir Putin will preside over the new authority and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev was appointed as his deputy.
