TASHKENT, June 24. /TASS/. Russia does not evade a dialogue with NATO, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"Nobody is trying to evade the dialogue, as, of course, it is very important," the Kremlin official said.
"However, every dialogue requires preparation and understanding, which needs to be achieved first," the official said.
Peskov also said that "Russia was not in favor of freezing the dialogue, and Russia has nothing to do with processes of advancing towards NATO's borders", on the contrary, NATO is approaching Russia's borders.
According to Peskov, "The dialogue, despite all the existing disagreements, is necessary, as there is no alternative to it."
The presidential press secretary thus commented on the reports that NATO has called for convening a regular meeting of the NATO-Russia Council before the NATO summit that will be held on July 8 - 9.
