Atmosphere at Lavrov-Ban Ki-moon meeting more positive — ministry

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman says are discussed at the talks

ST. PETERSBURG, June 16. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Lavrov and Ban Ki-moon exchanged greetings before the meeting, then the talks continued behind closed doors.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Facebook page that serious issues are discussed at the talks, adding that the atmosphere is "more than positive."

The UN delegation includes Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura. The meeting is attended by Russia’s UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov.
