State Duma speaker says satisfied with results of meeting with Japan's PM

The sides discussed a number of issues of mutual interest, incuding the results of the Japanese premier’s visit to Sochi in early May

TOKYO, June 16. /TASS/. Speaker of Russia’s State Duma (lower house of parliament) Sergei Naryshkin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe have held a meeting and discussed a number of issues of interest to both Russia and Japan.

"We discussed a number of issues of mutual interest to our two countries and peoples. I am satisfied with the results of our meeting," Naryshkin told reporters after his meeting with Abe on Thursday.

Naryshkin and Abe also discussed the results of the Japanese premier’s visit to Sochi in early May and his planned participation in the economic forum in Vladivostok.

A delegation of Russian lawmakers led by Naryshkin is paying a visit to Tokyo. The State Duma speaker also planned to meet with the leadership of parliament and members of the Council of Friendly Exchanges non-governmental organization and take part in the opening ceremony of the 11th Festival of Russian Culture in Japan.
