Russia to present at HRC session draft resolution on revoking citizenship - ministry

The resolution is aimed at "elimination of obstacles for complete provision of human rights, arising from arbitrary revoking of citizenship and prevention of future violations of the kind"

MOSCOW, June 13. /TASS/. The Russian delegation will present for consideration at the 32nd session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) a draft resolution on revoking of citizenship, the Russian foreign ministry said in a comment.

The resolution is aimed at "elimination of obstacles for complete provision of human rights, arising from arbitrary revoking of citizenship and prevention of future violations of the kind".

"We consider the HRC a key human rights mechanism of the United Nations Organization," the comment reads. "The key approach to the Un work in the human rights direction should be equal cooperation of countries, based on the rule of international law and respect for sovereignty of countries."

"Russia at the HRC 32nd session will be for constructive dialogues, search for mutually acceptable settlement on key issues on the Council’s agenda, for excluding politicization of human rights and use of human rights topics as political pressure instruments.".
