A Russian diplomat expects cooperation in different spheres with Italy

MOSCOW, June 8. /TASS/. Russian-Italian summit level contacts are due at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksey Meshkov said after consultations with Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincenzo Amendola, on Wednesday.

"In the context of preparations for the forthcoming Russian-Italian summit level contacts at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum bilateral cooperation in a variety of fields has been reviewed," the Russian Foreign Ministry has said.

"There was an in-depth exchange of opinion on European issues, including those of cooperation between Russia and the EU, OSCE activities and Russia-NATO relations. Certain aspects of settling the Ukrainian crisis from standpoint of ensuring compliance with the Minsk Accords were touched upon," the ministry said.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held on June 16-18. Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s participation has been confirmed.
