Russian lawmakers to vote on minimum monthly wage increase

MOSCOW, May 17. /TASS/. Russia’s State Duma passed in the first reading the draft law increasing the minimum monthly wage (MMW) to 7,500 rubles ($115.8) from July 1, 2016.

The MMW increase will cover about 1 mln employees. 87% of them are working in government and municipal establishments and 13% of them - in private sector of the economy, the explanatory note to the draft law said.

This is the second wage increase this year, Chairperson of State Duma Labor Committee Olga Batalina said earlier. The MMW was increased by 4% from January 1 of this year and currently equals 6,204 rubles ($95.7).
