MOSCOW, April 26. /TASS/. Russia’s and Cambodia’s military are interested in cooperation in such spheres as anti-terrorism efforts, demining, military education and training, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Tuesday at a meeting with his visiting Cambodian counterpart Tea Banh.
It was the first-ever meeting between the two countries’ defense ministers.
"Our today’s meeting is really historical," Shoigu stressed, adding Russia and Cambodia have good prospects in the area of military and military technical cooperation.
"Among the spheres of mutual interest I would like to note anti-terrorism efforts, humanitarian demining and training of the Cambodian military at the Russian defense ministry’s higher education establishments," the Russian minister said.
He hailed a visit by the Russia Pacific Fleet’s ships to Cambodia’s port of Sihanoukville as a notable event and thanked his Cambodian counterpart for the warm welcome offered to the Russian seamen.
