MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. The key function of Russia’s National Guard is control of weapons turnover and the fight against terrorism and organized crime, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
"In early April, a new body of executive power was established on the basis of the Interior Ministry troops - the Federal Service of National Guard Troops," Putin said at a meeting with officers.
"Its key function is control of the turnover of weapons. Besides, in close contact with the Interior Ministry and the Federal Security Service (FSB) it will fight terrorism and organized crime," he said.
Putin said serious lawmaking work is ahead to form a full-fledged service.
