MOSCOW, April 21. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will make an official visit to China on April 28-29, Russian Foreign Ministry official spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Thursday.
"Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will make an official visit to China on April 28-29. On April 28, he will take part in the fifth meeting of foreign ministers of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, in Beijing," Zakharova said.
She added that participants in the meeting will "exchange opinions on key issues on international agenda, issues of ensuring regional security, countering new threats and challenges." "Special attention will be paid to increasing practical cooperation in the framework of the Conference, as well as to prospects of improving this mechanism," the diplomat said.
Zakharova said that Lavrov will hold a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart on April 29. "The ministers will discuss pressing issues of bilateral agenda with an emphasis on preparing for upcoming contacts at the highest level planned for later this year," she noted. "Cooperation in the framework of multilateral formats will be discussed, in particular, in the framework of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) and aforementioned Conference. The ministers will also discuss main regional and global problems," she concluded.
