TOKYO, April 15. /TASS/. Moscow calls not to use Pyongyang’s unacceptable line as a pretext for deploying US missile systems in the region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after talks with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida.

"Russia believes it is important not to try to use the unacceptable line of Pyongyang as a pretext for filling Northeast Asia with weapons and deploying here a segment of global antimissile defense of the US," Lavrov said.

Russia and Japan have a common stance that is important to make Pyongyang abandon its irresponsible steps and realize that its attempts to gain the recognition of North Korea’s nuclear status by the world community are delusive, he said.

Lavrov stressed that the problems of the Korean Peninsula can be solved only by political and diplomatic means.
