Moldovan anti-corruption center’s chief detained at Moscow airport for 3 hours

The Moldovan official arrived in the Russian capital upon an invitation of the Russian side to attend a meeting of the joint group investigating money laundering through Moldovan banks

CHISINAU, April 6. /TASS/. Moldova’s National Anti-Corruption Center head General Viorel Chetraru has been detained for three hours at a terminal of Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport, the center’s press service said in a statement on Wednesday.

The Moldovan official arrived in the Russian capital upon an invitation of the Russian side to attend a meeting of the joint group investigating money laundering through Moldovan banks.

"The problem has been solved via diplomatic channels," the statement says, without elaborating on details.

Along with this, the statement says that last year Colonel Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, Acting Chief of Moldova’s General Police Inspectorate, found himself in a similar situation when he made a stopover in Moscow on the way to Minsk. However, Russian border guards did not confirm the information at the time.
