MOSCOW, March 11. /TASS/. The US could have already provided concrete evidence to Russia in the six months that passed since former Russian presidential advisor had died in the US, Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Friday.

"We saw reports citing US investigators that they have concrete information about the reasons of death of the Russian citizen," Zakharova said. "We saw this information in the media and checked it. These reports turned out to be true," she added.

Russia has "repeatedly requested information through diplomatic channels, through our embassy in Washington, from our US colleagues," she noted. "Over the last months we have not received from our US colleagues any concrete, comprehensive information that casts light on any details of what happened," the diplomat added.

"We want to address our colleagues in the State Department as our direct partners to prevent any speculation with a request for official information," Zakharova said. "It will probably not be comprehensive information but it will be at least something. It’s time. Six months have already passed, it was possible to collect some details. We hope that it is like this and that this information will be provided to us," she concluded.

Russia’s Prosecutor General Yury Chaika has requested from the US Justice Department the documents necessary to establish the reasons and circumstances of the death of former Russian presidential advisor Mikhail Lesin, head of the Prosecutor General’s Office main department of international legal cooperation Saak Karapetyan told TASS on Friday.

"Russia’s Prosecutor General Yury Chaika has sent a request to his US colleague - Attorney General Loretta Lynch - for documents and materials necessary for clarifying the reasons and circumstances of the death of Mikhail Lesin," Karapetyan said. He said that the request was sent in accordance with US-Russian Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty adding that the reasons of Lesin’s death have not been established and reported to interested parties yet.
