Russian Prosecutor-General’s Office blacklists US-financed NGO

The operation of National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, a non-governmental organization funded by the US National Endowment for Democracy, was declared as undesirable

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. Russian Prosecutor-General’s Office has made a decision to declare as undesirable the operation of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, a non-governmental organization funded by the US National Endowment for Democracy.

As follows from a statement posted on the Prosecutor-General’s Office website "on the basis of examination of the available materials the PGO made a decision to declare undesirable the operation of the foreign non-governmental organization called the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs in Russian territory."

"It has been established that the activities of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs poses a threat to the basics of the constitutional system of Russia and to state security," the Prosecutor-General’s Office said. "A notification of the decision made has been dispatched to the Justice Ministry for including the aforesaid organization in the list of foreign and international non-governmental organizations whose activity is recognized as undesirable in the territory of the Russian Federation."

According to open available sources the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs is an NGO created by the US government and financed by the National Endowment for Democracy.
