Russian deputy foreign minister and US ambassador to Moscow discuss Syrian ceasefire

MOSCOW, March 3 /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian president’s special envoy for the Middle East and Africa, and US Ambassador to Moscow John Tefft met in Moscow on Thursday to discuss effective coordination of control over the Syrian ceasefire, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"The sides had a detailed exchange of views on a set of issues related to the Syrian settlement. They stressed the need to effectively coordinate efforts to control the ceasefire observation in compliance with the Russian-American agreements, which are enshrined in U.N. Security Council Resolution 2268, and establish a sustainable UN-brokered negotiating process in Geneva on the basis of U.N. Security Council Resolution 2254," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The meeting took place at the US embassy’s request.
