Russian ombudsman to visit Chechnya in April to discuss human rights

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Russian human rights commissioner Ella Pamfilova is planning a trip to Chechnya in April to discuss human rights in the republic.

"I am going to visit the Chechen republic in order to meet human rights activists and the republican leadership to discuss the accrued problems in the sphere of human rights," Pamfilova told the media.

Earlier, Chechnya’s human rights ombudsman, Nurdi Nukhazhiyev, said on his website that the resignation of Chechnya’s head Ramzan Kadyrov would be a violation of people’s rights.

"We have certain specifics… I would refrain from comments for now," she said.
