Lawmaker says Iran election results will help anti-terror cooperation with Russia

MOSCOW, February 29. /TASS/. The results of Iran’s election to the national parliament will have a positive effect on the Syrian settlement and cooperation with Russia in counteracting terrorism, Russian State Duma Deputy Speaker Nikolay Levichev said on Monday.

"The election’s results will have a positive influence on the Middle East settlement, including the Syrian situation, strengthening Iran’s proactive and constructive position," Levichev said. "We consider Iran our key partner in counteracting international terrorism."

According to Levichev, Russia will stand for lifting remaining sanctions from Tehran, including those connected with military-technical cooperation.

IRNA news agency on Monday announced the final list of candidates winning 30 parliament seats in Tehran constituency.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his supporters has won the majority of the seats in the Parliamentary and the Experts Assembly elections, which were held in the Islamic Republic on February 26.
