MOSCOW, February 24. /TASS/. Russia’s diplomatic missions need additional security measures against the terrorist threat, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday on the results of a ministry collegium meeting attended by the leadership of the competent authorities.
"The meeting participants stated that the expansion of the geography and intensification of the activity of international terrorist organizations have created new risks to the Foreign Ministry’s offices, their personnel and their family members," the ministry said. "They noted that a large amount of work has been done in recent years to ensure their security, in accordance with the country leadership’s instructions."
"However, the new realities require additional adequate measures," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry added that "a complex analysis of the state of affairs in this sphere has been made."
"The existing and potential risks have been assessed, the ways and means of response to them with taking into account the ongoing changes in the international situation have been considered. The discussion participants outlined a set of specific steps aimed at consolidating the human resource and logistics potential, using advanced technology, improving the tools for the fulfilment of the current security tasks, including using the political, diplomatic and legal means for the protection of Russia’s interests," the Foreign Ministry said.
