MOSCOW, February 16. /TASS/. Turkey undermines efforts of the international community, including of the United States, to normalize the situation in Syria, Russian Foreign Ministry’s official spokesperson Maria Zakharova told RT TV channel on Tuesday.
"Many documents have already been adopted. The issue is that all countries should express, including publicly, their assessment of the situation. Because it looks like Turkey is now undermining efforts that were made by the United States in particular, as well as great efforts on searching for consensus in Munich," Zakharova said.
She added that any notable progress of the international community on consolidation around the Syrian problem is immediately undermined by the actions of Turkey. "As soon as the Vienna process was established, they [Turkey] downed a Russian jet. Now, right after Munich [Security Conference] where a very important document was adopted — it is important because it outlines concrete steps for stopping violence — Syrian territory is being flagrantly violated, Syrian territory is being shelled, its sovereignty, independence and international law are being violated," she noted.
