MOSCOW, February 15. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is due to pay an official visit to Japan in mid-April this year, Russia’s Foreign Ministry has said.
The agreement on the visit was reached on Monday at the meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and Japan’s special envoy for relations with Russia, Chikahito Harada, the ministry said.
During the consultations, the sides discussed the Russian-Japanese relations. "The main focus was on the tasks of advancing political dialogue, cooperation in security sphere, trade and economic ties and cooperation in practical areas."
An exchange of views was also held on a range of topical international issues, including on ensuring comprehensive security in the Asia-Pacific Region, the ministry said.
"An agreement was reached on organizing the official visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Japan in mid-April this year," the statement says.
