Russia's upper parliament house delegation will visit Israel and Palestine on February 2-4

MOSCOW, February 2. /TASS/. The delegation from the Russian Federation Council headed by Speaker Valentina Matviyenko will pay an official visit to Israel and working visit to Palestine on February 2-4, the upper house’s press service said on Tuesday.

Russian parliamentarians will discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation and the situation in the Middle East at talks with Israeli leadership. Matviyenko said that Russia and Israel are "two equal partners that demonstrate high effectiveness of cooperation on key issues of international policy and bilateral cooperation," the press service added.

The Federation Council head will take part in the session of the Israeli parliament (Knesset) and hold a meeting with its Speaker Yuli-Yoel Edelstein. Senators will also hold meetings with representatives of the inter-parliamentary association of friendship "Israel-Russia."

In the framework of the visit to Palestine, Russian parliamentarians will meet with President and head of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) Mahmoud Abbas. The program of the trip also envisages visits to the Russian Center of Science and Culture, Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, schools of Russian-Palestinian friendship and multi-purpose Russian center which was opened in autumn of 2015.
