MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. NATO has no chances to promote its positive image in Russia, State Duma’s International Affairs Committee chairman Alexey Pushkov told a press conference in TASS on Friday.
"I think that NATO’s authority is so low in Russia that nothing can help. It is connected with the fact that NATO took the wrong course from the very start on expanding its structures, including military capabilities, at the expense of Russia’s security," Pushkov said.
NATO’s eastward expansion and "flirting with anti-Russian governments like that of [Ukrainian President Petro] Poroshenko and [Prime Minister Arseniy] Yatsenyuk neutralizes any positive message that NATO can send to the Russian people," he continued.
"Russian people don’t trust NATO," the lawmaker concluded.
