Russian, Iranian diplomats discuss preparations for inter-Syrian talks

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Russian presidential envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian have discussed on Wednesday in Moscow preparations for the inter-Syrian negotiations to be held on January 29 in Geneva, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"A thorough exchange of views on topical issues of the regional agenda took place with a focus on the task of an early political settlement of the Syrian crisis in accordance with Resolution 2254 of the UN Security Council and in the light of launching the talks between the Syrian government and representatives of the Syrian opposition under UN auspices scheduled for January 29 in Geneva," the ministry said following consultations. "The current situation in Lebanon, Yemen and the Gulf region was discussed as well."
