MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin received Special Envoy of the Council of Europe Secretary General Gerard Studman, Russia’s Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.
Studman arrived on Russia’s invitation to prepare a report on how Moscow is fulfilling its commitments arising from the European Convention on Human Rights relative to the population of Crimea, to which the convention fully applies.
"The sides discussed a program of the visit to Crimea prepared by the Russian side in accordance with the special representative’s wishes, including meetings with the leadership of the Crimean federal district, the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, representatives of a wide group of associations of national minorities, non-profit and religious organizations," the ministry said.
"Studman and accompanying employees of the Council of Europe secretariat departed from Moscow on the same day for Simferopol," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
