Palestinian president may visit Russia in March — ambassador

MOSCOW, January 19. /TASS/. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas may pay a visit to Russia in March, Palestinian Ambassador to Moscow Abdel Hafiz Nofal said on Tuesday.

"He traditionally comes here twice a year," he said. "We hope his next visit will take place in March."

He also said the Palestinian side would like to "invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to Palestine, to Bethlehem."

Russian-Palestinian intergovernmental commission to meet in Ramallah early March

According to the diplomat, the first meeting of the Russian-Palestinian intergovernmental commission on trade-economic cooperation will be held in Ramallah in early March.

"We had talks yesterday with the labour minister who agreed to lead a delegation comprising 20-25 people. The event will take place in Ramallah. Possibly, in the first week of March," the diplomat said. "The commission will discuss various issues, including economic development."

"There are issues to be discussed in the spheres of ·· agriculture, medicine, information technology and other spheres," the ambassador said.

According to him, "The first meeting of the commission in March has good prospects for to launching a new stage in the development of relations between Palestine and the Russian Federation."
