MOSCOW, January 6. /TASS/. Media reports on North Korea’s hydrogen bomb test carried out on Wednesday show that the current international relations system is in crisis, a senior Russian lawmaker, Alexei Pushkov told TASS on Wednesday.
"No matter whether a nuclear bomb was exploded in North Korea that was already tested there or a hydrogen bomb as the Korean leadership insists, this is a rather alarming signal," said Pushkov, who heads the Russian lower house’s foreign affairs committee.
North Korea will not give up its plans to develop nuclear weapons and create its own nuclear potential as Pyongyang considers this as the only security guarantee in a world that cannot safeguard countries from a possible intervention, the lawmaker said.
This argument has "serious grounds," Pushkov said, adding: "Just over the past ten years we remember the invasion of Iraq, the war in Libya, the attempt to overthrow the government in Syria and so on," he said.
"So this is a signal that the situation on the Korean Peninsula will further remain extremely tense," he said, stressing that Pyongyang’s announcement adds tensions to the difficult international situation.
"North Korea is a part of the entire puzzle called ‘the ruining American-style world order,’" Pushkov said.
"We will always face these or those challenges until a new formula of the world order is found that will ensure guarantees for the states from external invasion," he said.
North Korea announced earlier on Wednesday that it had successfully conducted a hydrogen bomb test. The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) experts said the stations had registered the shocks similar to the nuclear bomb test carried out by North Korea in 2013.
