Putin meets with Russian Security Council to discuss Syrian settlement, domestic problems

MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Issues of the Syrian settlement and a number of domestic problems were in focus of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with permanent members of the Russian Security Council, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Friday.

"Subjects for discussion at the meeting included the current stage of the Syrian settlemtn, as well as topical issues of Russia’s social and economic development," he said.

Participants in the meeting included Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, chief of the presidential administration Sergei Ivanov, speakers of both houses of the Russian parliament, namely Valentina Matviyenko of the Federation Council upper house and Sergei Naryshkin of the State Duma lower house, secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev and his deputy Rashid Nurgaliyev, Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu, director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Mikhail Fradkov, and Boris Gryzlov, a permanent member of the Russian Security Council.
