MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Signing an inter-Libyan political settlement may become the starting point for restoring Libyan statehood, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
"We are interested in the establishment of Libya as a stable democratic state based on efficient state institutions, including the army and security forces," the document said. "This is in line not only with the hopes of the Libyan people but also with the interests of the entire region of the Middle East and North Africa, international community in general," the foreign ministry added.
The agreement on inter-Libyan political settlement was signed on December 17 in Morocco with UN participation. It envisages establishing a presidential council, a national accord government and other unified institutions.
