Top officials of Russian, British Army staffs discuss operational communications

The Russian and British officials also exchanged opinions on joint celebrations of memorial dates in 2016 linked to the 75th anniversary of the Arctic Convoys

MOSCOW, December 17. /TASS/. Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Lt-Gen Igor Makushev, held a meeting with Britain's Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, who is the Vice-Chief of his country's Defence Staff, on December 16 to discuss the establishing of operation communications between the Russian and British military officials, the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry said on Thursday.

The meeting was held at the initiative of the British side.

"The two sides looked at the ways of establishing operational communications between the relevant outlets of the Russian and British Armed Forces for prevention of incidents on high seas and in the airspace," the report said.
